Basement Tanking Consulting
Often, the majority of attention is given to the facade on buildings, and Owners / Project Teams resign themselves to accepting a leaky basement or choosing a wet-wall approach rather than relying on a tanking membrane or DPM. Kaizon Engineering offers unique expertise and the ability to deliver the basement tanking systems that are needed to produce dry and habitable basements.
We collaborate with architects, owners, suppliers, installers, and contractors and assist them by designing and/or design peer-reviewing basement tanking assemblies. Building Science Analysis
Building physics is an essential part of understanding how building envelopes interact with the environment and internal conditions. While New Zealand is relatively temperate, micro-climates and often humid conditions introduce challenges to deliver truly healthy living spaces. Energy Auditing & Benchmarking
Kaizon Engineering facilitates all steps of the energy auditing process, establishing energy, carbon and water benchmarks based on historical consumption data, coordinating and conducting site visits to gain a thorough understanding of the building and its integrated mechanical and electrical systems, and generating a comprehensive list of appropriate Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs). Once the ECMs are identified, Kaizon performs detailed energy calculations to determine the potential energy, carbon, water and cost savings of each measure, the projected implementation costs, and the expected simple payback.
As buildings age and their occupancies change, the HVAC equipment can start to underperform, leaving occupants uncomfortable and the utility bills high. By Retro-Commissioning (RCx) an existing building, Kaizon Engineering can functionally test the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and control systems to find and correct performance issues, as well as identify potential energy conservation measures.
MEPLS Condition Assessments
Kaizon Engineering’s Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Life Safety (MEPLS) Condition Assessment reports provide building owners with an in-depth and technical understanding of the MEPLS assets contained at a property. A MEPLS Condition Assessment report not only delivers a comprehensive list of the main MEPLS equipment within a building, it also rates the current condition of each component, provides an estimated Remaining Useful Life, and provides cost estimates needed to fund immediate/short-term equipment replacements as well as long-term upgrades.
Using a state-of-the-art IR camera, our trained staff can help identify a wide variety of problems that wouldn’t otherwise be detected. With our extensive experience in the building construction industry, we know when and where to apply this technology to identify issues with building envelopes, mechanical systems, and electrical components. We use infrared thermal imaging as a stand-alone visual inspection tool as well as a diagnostic instrument when paired with water testing and blowerdoor building pressurization.
