Project Scope

Matele Misa, the client, is a developer in Auckland City. Matele approached Kaizon to provide architectural design services to convert an existing Church in Otahuhu, into a nine self-contained apartment block.

Treiz Azzu, Senior Registered Architect at Kaizon, was the lead designer on the project and was required to design a full reconfiguration of the internal layout and design alterations to the building facade to achieve the new purpose for the building.

Treiz and Suri Su, Architectural Technician, presented the client with a few concept drawings to provide options which would assist the client with their decision on the new look. Kaizon also provided the client with in-house quantity surveying expertise which gave the client a better idea on the budget that would be required to meet their project requirements for the building conversion.

The final design included four lots of two-bedroom apartments on the ground floor, and two lots of two-bedroom apartments. Then three lots of one-bedroom apartments on the first floor.

Treiz liaised with the consulting Fire Engineer to ensure her design was compliant with fire safety standards required in New Zealand. The project is currently at the resource consent stage due to the change of use for the building.

The client is happy with the design concept and is looking forward to the construction being completed.
