After a false start in a disastrous earlier career path, in a completely different industry Ben regrouped graduating, in 1996, with an honours degree in Building Surveying from DeMontfort University in Leicester, UK. After a few years of practice Ben was elected to Chartered Building Surveyor within RICS in 2000. Over his career Ben has developed a broad experience in a diverse number of areas relating to building surveying, asset management, professional and technical property advice, development and technical due diligence.

During his career Ben has worked both within the property teams of client organisations and in consultancy, all within commercial, industrial and residential settings. He feels as much at home diagnosing a defect or running a project as he does developing and implementing strategic property planning within large portfolios or leading and developing a team. Most recently, he advised an investment consortium providing technical due diligence (TDD) on what was believed to be the largest property transaction in European history. The project encompassing a portfolio spanning 17 countries with a value of 13bn Euro’s. Ben has also had his own consulting business and believes that this has given him a unique insight into how to deliver the most appropriate, pragmatic and cost-effective outcomes for our clients. He describes himself as a people-focused collaborator who embraces technology, innovation and simplicity to get the best results.

Outside of work Ben is enjoying exploring New Zealand and learning about its history and culture. He also likes to take things apart and put them back together again. This has included classic cars, scooters, houses and a 1949 American diner. He also claims that some of the things he has restored do actually work afterwards.
