Matt’s career includes 25 years within the building and construction industry and has held significant management and leadership roles over this period for a number of large multi-national organisations. Since moving to New Zealand in 2014 and at the helm of the business, Matt has been instrumental in the continued growth and development of Kaizon into a successful multidisciplinary building and consultancy practice.
Matt’s experience includes senior management, project director and project management roles within large construction, infrastructure and technical services companies. Projects include multi-story commercial and residential buildings, large infrastructure projects (telecommunication networks, tunnels and airports) and high-security defence contracts. Matt also has a significant amount of experience in Health and Safety.
Matt mostly watches sport these days but does play the odd game of tennis or golf when he is not on the boat or volunteering as a First Responder for St John in Whitianga.
Simon has over 25 years of experience in providing feasibility, design and project management expertise in the construction industry and has provided building and project advice to a number of high profile organisations and clients.
Simon has extensive experience working across many industry sectors including schools, hospitals, housing (private and social), commercial, industrial, retail, leisure and defence sectors. In the successful delivery of schemes to Clients in these sectors he has had to often balance expectations of both internal and external stakeholders whilst maintaining control of resource and costs. In Simon’s career he has directly managed and been responsible for both individuals and multi-disciplinary teams of specialist consultants for a variety of Client based commissions.
Outside of work Simon spends time with family and friends and enjoys getting into the great outdoors both tramping and mounting biking and more recently kayaking. This year he finally intends to take up kite surfing.

Director of Quantity Surveying
Gus is an experienced practitioner having delivered successful outcomes on projects for over 14 years for clients both in New Zealand and Samoa.
Gus has worked as project Quantity Surveyor in both the roles of contractor as well as consultant providing him with both a pragmatic and balanced understanding of delivery approach from both sides of the fence.
Gus has extensive experience in the preparation of feasibility studies for new developments, cost control during the design stages, assistance with the preparation of contract documents, contract administration during construction and negotiating Final Accounts. As Contractor QS duties have included preparing tender documents for sub-contractor pricing, tendering, contract negotiation with the suppliers and sub-contractors and construction monitoring to ensure the project is within the cost, time and quality.
In his free time, Gus enjoys playing sports such as rugby and golf, spending time with family and friends and travelling. He also enjoys the outdoors and is always keen to go out fishing if given the opportunity.
PG Dip Const, BConst, MNZIQS
Darren has over 24 years’ experience and has worked extensively in the UK and New Zealand as well as having worked in South America, Central Asia and Indonesia.
Darren has delivered projects for a broad client base including education, public and commercial sectors. His knowledge and expertise ranges from traditional building surveying work to project managing new build construction and earthquake resilience projects within commercial buildings. These have often required management of internal and external project teams.
Outside of work, Darren is a keen club cyclist.

Senior Building Surveyor and Consulting Engineer
After retraining and graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Ben spent 5 years carrying out forensic investigations into a wide variety of large and small scale structures and working in a variety of sectors including commercial, residential, and heritage.
Having joined Kaizon in 2017 Ben has continued to develop and apply his analytical skills in supporting a range of clients and maintains a strong portfolio of remedial design projects relating to both residential and commercial buildings.
In his spare time Ben enjoys being on the open water as well as being a keen explorer of the New Zealand wilderness.

Richard holds Building Surveying and Project Management experience both nationally and overseas, which accompanies his BSc (Hons) and foundation degrees in Building Surveying.
Richard has a range of varied working experience within the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. During his time in industry he has provided clients with a number of services including project management, development monitoring, dilapidations, feasibility and due diligence studies, defect analysis, CCC resolution, and weathertightness assessments. Richard has also worked on specialist programmes for private sector care home refurbishments and government funded new-build school schemes as well as commercial fit-outs and residential reclads.
In his spare time, Richard enjoys living the kiwi outdoor lifestyle whilst trying to get out on motorcycle rides whenever he can.

Senior Registered Architect
Treiz is a Senior Registered Architect, with over 17 years of both national and international experience.
During her professional career, Treiz has gained a wealth of experience in working with a wide range of residential, commercial and public-sector clients.
Treiz engages with her clients from inception through to completion. Through her clear understanding of the different skills necessary within the various sectors of the building industry, she is able to work closely with them in order to meet all aspects of their brief. Treiz is often requested through her designs to provide special consideration to the choice of sustainable materials, the use of natural light and ventilation, and works closely with project engineers in order to achieve the green star building system ratings.
Treiz prides herself on listening and understanding her client’s needs in successfully delivering both architectural and pragmatic solutions to meet all aspects of a brief.
In her spare time, Treiz enjoys a number of outdoor pursuits, watching movies, playing cards, baking and cake decoration.

Health & Safety Manager
Natalie joined Kaizon in 2015 and is our Health and Safety Manager. She is passionate about making sure the environment staff work in is safe, healthy and happy. As Kaizon’s Health and Safety Representative, she is now taking the plunge and studying for her Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Natalie enjoys the health and safety realm as it is ever changing and ever expanding. It also affords her the opportunity to create a positive environment within health and safety and keeps all our workers safe and unharmed. Having implemented new and useful documentation and systems within Kaizon, she has learnt a lot which proves most helpful when completing her studies. The learning opportunities available mean that any knowledge she gains is not only beneficial for her own development but also benefits Kaizon and everyone who works there.
When Natalie isn’t working or studying she enjoys going on adventures with her family and enjoying watching her young daughters learn and grow.
Cam joined our team in 2015 after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland. Since then Cam has been involved with both commercial, and private sector Clients and has provided technical support to the building surveying and project teams in a number of wide and ranging roles both in the office, in the field as well as more general support to the wider team.
Cam’s positive hands on and can-do attitude, and his practical ability to provide solutions to whatever challenge is thrown at him makes him an invaluable resource to have. Whilst perhaps considered a unique role in the company, the flexibility, capability and level of competence that Cam provides to the business, allows Kaizon to provide smooth operation, continuity and delivery of professional services to our Clients.
Cam enjoys anything that can be turned into a competition and outside of work you will find him at the local football pitch.
James moved to Auckland in January 2017 and joined Kaizon to pursue his career in Building Surveying. James’ willingness to learn has propelled him in a short period of time into a variety of different competencies dealing with commercial, public and private sector driven projects.
From these projects to date and hands on experience, James has gained a valuable wealth of knowledge and understanding of construction techniques, building life cycle performance and condition assessments through focused investigations.
James is currently working towards becoming a registered member of the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors (NZIBS)
In his spare time James can be found climbing mountains, exploring rugged coastlines and playing competitive sports.
Rajveer graduated in the UK in 2011. Since then she has gained experience in both the residential and commercial building sectors and undertaken a range of bank monitoring and project management roles of office and shop fit outs.
After moving to New Zealand in 2016 Rajveer has been involved with building condition surveys, weathertightness assessments and project monitoring roles for a number of commercial Clients. She is currently working towards becoming a registered member of the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors (NZIBS) and a Chartered Building Surveyor (RICS).
Outside of work Rajveer spends her time playing hockey and enjoys photography.
Bogdan graduated with a building surveying degree from the UK and has recently moved to New Zealand. Since graduating over a year ago, Bogdan has gained experience in the commercial sector, being directly involved in construction projects, managing complex works from inception to completion and engaged on design and specifications.
Bogdan has experience in condition assessments and building pathology and he is currently applying this to façade project monitoring and defect analysis. Bogdan is currently working towards becoming a registered member of the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors (NZIBS).
In his spare time, Bogdan enjoys exploring the spectacular landscapes of New Zealand, paddle boarding and recently picked up mountain biking. He is also involved in different charity projects both locally and internationally.
Junior Building Surveyor
Kate is a student building surveyor from the UK and has been involved in a range of projects in both the residential and commercial sector. Since the move to New Zealand, Kate has primarily been involved with project monitoring, façade testing and the preparation of schedules of condition.
In her spare time Kate enjoys travelling and sightseeing.
Hannah joined our team in 2017 as office administrator, she keeps busy with a wide range of administrative tasks including finance, administration, and resourcing. Hannah enjoys her role in the business and has now started studying for her Bachelor of Business (Accountancy).
Since joining the Kaizon team in her supporting role to the business, Hannah has shown her ability to quickly grasp business structures and has further developed a number of administrative systems which have provided improved efficiencies in project control and reporting.
Hannah is very much a people person enjoying travelling, playing sports, and baking delicious treats with friends and family.
